How to I get my hair to not have so many tangles?

I have worn it in braids at night and then I would take them out and my hair would be wavy. The thing is that I like my hair that's already straight, and it's also thick, but it's hard to take care of. It gets tangled after the shower or after working out. Does anyone know of a good brush or comb I can buy at the store and the brand, because the ones I have pull out too much hair.

I know just what you mean I have LONG CURLY hair and these tricks work for me.

1. When you condition you hair in the shower rinse it out at the very end with COLD water.

2. Buy a large tooth comb

3. Johnsons Baby Detangler... or the generic brand

These 3 things help me tremendously!!!!

You should buy a detangler spray! When I was younger, I had really long hair, and it got tangled easily. I would spray my hair with that stuff, and brush the tangles out. Brushing your hair isn't good for it anyway, so you should brush it just enough to tame it.

Its ridiculously tough, like trying to untangle a slinky. Has anyone ever gotten one of those things untangled? They make rubix cubes look like a sinch.

It doesnt really matter the brush- except get the ones with hard bristles.

Get some good conditioner and try leave in conditioner.

Also, try getting a different haircut. One with more layers should make it less tangly.

well aftre u get outta the shower, detangle it with a WIDE toothed comb, then use a rollar brush to stainghten and smooth it...

if u want it to be a lil wavy at the same time too, then after using the rollar bursh gather yur up loosely and tie it in a random 'smooth' messy bun!

good luck!

I have heard that wooden combs are great for taking care of long hair. You can get these online at different stores, like an Indian store. I use this and it is great, I have thick, curly, frizzy, long hair. Root Stimulator Olive Oil Creme Conditioner, you get it at Walgreens. It is wonderful. Make sure to use a great conditioner, and shampoo as well. After coming out of the shower with pretty wet hair, take handfuls of the creme and gently massage it throughout your hair. Then gently comb through with a wide toothed comb. I have several very wide toothed combs that I have purchased at Sally's Beauty Supply store. Also sometimes the rubber combs work better, less static electricity. I wish you luck. Also put a small amount of jojoba oil in your hair after washing it, also a great shine serum oil is nice. I use them interchangably. I am caucasion so these products can work on various hair types and textures.

Try using a Hydrating shampoo and conditioner and a DEEP conditioner at least twice a week. Olive Oil line by Regis is good, and The Detangler by Paul Mitchell works the best. It is real creamy, and sometimes if it doesn't help to just use it as a conditioner, take a pea sized amount and rub into your hair from the ENDS up, do NOT start at the scalp, and comb through with a CONDITIONING comb. These are the enourmous wide tooth combs that are fat and made for using in the shower.
