Straight hair to wavy hair?

My hair is stick straight! I want it so bad to be wavy, but not a perm. I have tried gel/braids at night but in the morning it's sort of a messy wave. I don't really like hoe it turns out. I want it like this: http://www.thehairstyler.com/celebrity_h... The 3rd picture (wavy one) or something like it. I have tryed a curling iron but it didn't hold and looked nothing like the picture. Any step by step instructions? I recently bought Sunsilk Gel and creme beach waves - I'm gonna try scrunching it Saturday, any tips? Thanks.

you should try, texturizing gel, when ur hair is wet, use the thick (its like goop) and scrunch it....it will hold ur hair up better and use a diffuser ! good luck hun!

I have the same problem. After you shower, french braid your hair into two braids while it is still wet. Sometimes putting in mousse before helps. Keep them in overnight and make sure they dry that way- if not then blow dry them. Make sure you do not brush them when you take your braids out- it will make your hair frizzy....or ask your hairdresser

i think scrunching it would be really good. just make sure that when you scrunch it your hiar is like 25% dry so it wont fall out. also if you want big curls get biggger pieces of hair to scrunch. hope that works for you!

Hello there!!!

I used to have the same issues with my own hair before I went to beauty school. There we were given curling irons that were the brand "Hot Tools." Your iron can have a lot to do with why it doesn't hold. Just buying a little bit more expensive tool, that will last even longer then say a walmart brand, can help with your look!

Also, to make a more wavy look with an iron: Instead of taking the pieces of hair, grasping it with the iron and curling try it this way. Take your section of hair, small to medium and wind it manually around the rod. You will have to hold it there instead of the iron doing that bit of the work, but you will have more of a wave then a curl! Make sure you don't burn your fingers with this little trick!

Good luck!

Get yourself a really good double-barrel curler, some root lifter, and some texturizing spray/mist. =]

I am pretty sure that she got this look with curlers. You may need bigger or smaller curlers depending on the length and thickness of your hair but it should work. If it does not, then you can always scrunch it like you said. Before adding any thing to your hair get it wet, then i would suggest putting a dime size amount of hair serum in just to keep your hair from frizzing or knotting. After that add your "beach waves" scrunch , and enjoy!
